Choose 3 of the topics below and write an essay using historical examples to explain your answers. Be as specific as you can.
This will be an open book exam
Each Essay is worth 33.3 points each.
1. Discuss the Baroque movement in Art, Music and Architecture. Describe what it is, some of the major events, artists, architecture etc. Why is this movement significant in the study of History and the Humanities?
2. Discuss the impact of the Protestant Reformation on European politics. What were the major events and people involved? Why was the Reformation so important to the history and society of Europe? What effect did it have on society?
3. Discuss the Scientific Revolution. What was it? When did it happen? Who were the major players, events, discoveries? What impact did the Scientific Revolution have on society as a whole?
4. What impact did World War One and World War Two have on society as a whole? How did it impact culture, music, art and how people interacted with each other? Do you agree with the often used term “Lost Generation” to describe the generation post WWI? Why or why not? (Define Lost Generation in your answer.)
5. How has the digital age impacted the humanities in the late 20th early 21st century? Use specific examples. What has changed and what has stayed the same.
